Mike has signed an Early Day Motion that draws attention to the detrimental health effects of shisha smoking.
Early Day Motion 2027 calls on the Government to take greater steps to increase awareness of the dangers associated with shisha smoking. World Health Organisation research has shown that one smoking session can result in up to 200 times the amount of smoke being consumed when compared to that of a single cigarette. Mike is concerned that many people are unaware of the health risks and wants to Government to help raise awareness.
Commenting, Mike said: “While some people won’t even know what shisha is, those who do are often grossly misinformed of the serious health consequences of smoking it. The habit is particularly prevalent along Western Road and while I don’t want to ban it, I think that people should be informed of just how dangerous it is to their health.”
