Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has backed the Government’s economic strategy as figures show a fall in local unemployment.
Last week, the Office for National Statistics published the unemployment figures for Hove and Portslade. In an encouraging trend, the figures show that unemployment is down from 2,243 in August 2011 to 2,115 in August 2012. The figure for August 2012 is also 16 lower than in July.
Commenting, Mike said: “I was pleased to see that there has been another fall in unemployment in Hove and Portslade. This is both down on the figure from July and 128 down from August last year. The Government’s strategy is yielding some positive signs for improving employment rates, but we must not be complacent. More still needs to be done.”
