Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is worried that the Green administration is steamrolling ahead with plans to redevelop the Seven Dials roundabout without taking residents’ concerns into account.
Mike has been contacted by a number of residents and community associations who are frustrated that the proposed plans appear to be going ahead regardless of the result of discussions with those living nearby. Residents are particularly concerned that their streets will see increased levels of traffic as cars take alternative routes along residential side streets. The Dials North West Community Association created a petition against the council’s proposals. To view the petition, click here.
Commenting, Mike said: “The proposed plans will dramatically alter the traffic flow of the area so it is paramount that the Green administration actually listens to what local residents have to say. A number of issues have been raised with me, but chief amongst those is the impact the changes will have on side streets as cars seek alternative routes. I hope that council officials will listen to these valid concerns and work with residents to come up with an agreeable solution.”
