Great Local Performance as Exams Get Tougher

Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has praised local students as their hard work pays off as they receive record GCSE results.

Secondary schools in Hove and Portslade are reporting recording-breaking results, with grade improvements across the board from last year. Mike is delighted with the improvements of this year’s GCSE results and has highlighted that they represent the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers.

Commenting, Mike said: “Finishing school is a big part of a young person’s development and while completing the last exam is always a huge relief, it is results day that ends the highly anticipated wait. I want to congratulate all the students who received their GCSE results and wish everyone well in their next step, albeit sixth form or finding a new job.”

Mike added, “This year’s results highlight that students in Brighton & Hove are performing well, even as exams have got tougher. It is clear that central to this stellar performance is a combination of student dedication and high quality teaching right across the city. I want to specifically congratulate the secondary schools in Hove and Portslade that have achieved record results. Well done.”
